This talk presents a theoretical study of a specific notion of stability. We begin by introducing and comparing two fundamental concepts: contraction and incremental exponential stability, with particular emphasis on the relationship between them. We then address a control design problem aimed at rendering a system contractive (or incrementally exponentially stable). Finally, we conclude with a small-gain result that provides sufficient conditions for contraction and incremental exponential stability for an interconnection of two systems.
