L’Ébauchoir after La Danse by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux In 2020, with the help of the CRIStAL Laboratory’s PIRVI team, Pauline de Chalendar is hijacking the new augmented interaction technology developed by Grenoble-based ISKN in partnership with Bandai Namco. She has developed a digital exploration device that allows visitors to discover a 3D drawing, based on Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux’s high relief La Danse, by moving a virtual camera-object over a model. The sculpture is reinterpreted by the artist through virtual reality drawing on the VAirDraw program, then presented in a tangible, interactive form that aims to bring Pauline de Chalendar’s initial drawing gesture into resonance with the viewer’s exploratory gesture.
