RoboCup 2018

on July 17, 2018

RoboCup 2018 is the annual international Robotics event.

One of our research engineers, Vincent COELEN (MOCIS team, CI2S thematic group of CRIStAL’s UMR 9189), assisted by one of his engineering colleagues, Abdelkader BELAROUCI (MOCIS team, CI2S thematic group of the UMR) and two other Polytech Lille alumni, has been taking part in the ‘RoboCup Industrial’ for the past 4 years (Figure 1). The aim is to work on development prospects in the factory of the future (2025 era), with the cohabitation and/or integration of mobile logistics robotics in industrial life. The aim of the competition is to develop advanced algorithms for autonomous navigation and industrial gripping, to improve production indicators.

RoboCup 2020 will be held in Bordeaux; UMR CRIStAL will be a member of the organizing committee.

The Pyro team took part in this year’s event with three Robotino robots, including one from UMR CRIStAL, a product of the InTraDE project (09-15). It finished second in this 2018 edition, behind the GRIPS team from the University of Graz.
