Algorithmic Upskilling and the Question of Ethics in AIED
The last few years has seen a proliferation of digital work and education platforms from crowdsourcing and freelancing marketplaces to MOOC-type platforms. These levers for sharing knowledge and learning constitute the premises of the future of work. Educational technologies coupled with AI hold the promise of helping learners upskill. I will descibe research at the intersection of data-informed recommendations and education theory and discuss ethical considerations in building educational platforms.
