The University of Lille is one of the university sites awarded the “science with and for society” label by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research. Within this framework, the MérLin project, in conjunction with regional players and the “L’Esprit Sorcier TV” channel (Fred Courant), aims to co-produce a biannual event as part of a new concept for a televised mediation program, “La grande enquête!”, around themes specific to the region. CRIStAL was heavily involved in the preparation and production of the first program, on the theme of Artificial Intelligence. The concept had yet to be defined. We proposed that PhD students play the role of interviewers. Relying on the PhD students funded as part of the ANR “AI_PhD@Lille” project, we mobilized them to learn how to interview different audiences.
