The Village des Sciences will be held from October 5 to 8, 2017 at the Gare Saint Sauveur in Lille, for the third year running (5 and 6 for schoolchildren / 7 and 8 for the general public).
“But what do researchers do?” is what they’ll be unveiling at this new edition of the Village, a not-to-be-missed Science Festival event in the Lille metropolis.
Scientists have come up with a number of workshops and interactive demonstrations for the general public, providing a simple way of finding out more about their research subjects.
The theme of TRAVEL (movement and migration) will be explored across all disciplines, from the natural sciences to the humanities.
For the first time, the Village is being run jointly by the COMUE Lille Nord de France, the CNRS and the University of Lille, and will welcome more than twenty laboratories, institutions and other research organizations, making it a true symbol of the close collaboration that exists between research players in our region.
As far as researchers are concerned, 12 of our laboratories have responded to our request. Their workshops will be spread out over the different areas of the Village, from “Means of transport” and “Nature on a journey” to “Travel witnesses” and “Cellular travel” (22 workshops in all), not forgetting the “Art and Science” area.
The Village des Sciences is a fine project, since researchers from different laboratories and fields of research work together upstream to run these workshops, and all this is orchestrated jointly by 3 establishments (COMUE, CNRS, Université de Lille).
These laboratories are attached to 7 of the CNRS institutes, so the organization’s interdisciplinarity will once again be in the spotlight!
In all, no fewer than 60 researchers will be working in our workshops over the 4 days of the event.
