The spectator places his hand on a sensor that measures his electrodermal activity in real time - an action that immediately maps his emotional state. The values collected, which represent variations specific to each individual, are first converted into image form by printing a photograph revealing the spectator’s “aura”, the manifestation of his electromagnetic field.
The imprint of his or her invisible presence is then analyzed by a computer program capable of transcoding this physiological data into a musical score, following pre-established rules of composition, using a computer music analysis and generation technique (MIR).
The music thus generated is transmitted in real time to the player piano in the installation space. The spectator hears the notes and sees the keyboard keys play themselves, as if a phantom pianist were interpreting the melody corresponding to his state of mind.
