Résumé :

Le projet TABASCO (TABlature ASsisted COmposition) a pour but d’élaborer des outils algorithmiques pour assister la composition de musique pour guitare dans des styles appartenant au champ des musiques actuelles (pop, rock, métal, jazz, chanson, etc.). Le projet est structuré en 3 axes. Le premier vise à étudier les pratiques de composition des guitaristes, et en particulier à évaluer le rôle du logiciel de notation de tablature dans ce processus. Se basant sur les résultats de cette étude, le second axe vise à expérimenter et évaluer une variété d’approches algorithmiques issues de l’apprentissage automatique pour assister des tâches intervenant ponctuellement dans le processus de composition. Le troisième axe consistera à implémenter les algorithmes les plus prometteurs sous la forme de fonctionnalités au sein de logiciels de notation de tablatures tels que MuseScore ou Guitar Pro.

Abstract

The aim of the TABASCO (TABlature ASsisted COmposition) project is to develop algorithmic tools to assist the composition of guitar music in styles belonging to the field of contemporary music (pop, rock, metal, jazz, chanson, etc.). The project is structured around 3 axes. The first aims to study the composition practices of guitarists, and in particular to evaluate the role of tablature notation software in this process. Based on the results of this study, the second axis aims to experiment with and evaluate a variety of algorithmic approaches derived from machine learning, to assist with tasks that arise from time to time in the composition process. The third axis will involve implementing the most promising algorithms as functionalities within tablature notation software such as MuseScore or Guitar Pro.
